One evening of ambient bass guitar and electronics, recorded live, no overdubs.
I use the bass guitar on these recordings as an ambient sound source. Long tones are captured, looped, and folded back on themselves to create moving clouds of harmony and drone.

The venue
The Philosophical Research Society sits on Los Feliz Boulevard behind a granite Egyptian figure, the one on the cover of this record.
Manly P. Hall founded the PRS in 1934 as a library and a place to think, and built it in Mayan Revival style: terra cotta and seafoam green, hand-carved doors, stepped triangles running along the garden wall. It is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument now, holding more than thirty thousand rare volumes of esoteric literature, and the auditorium where Hall once spoke is frequently used for performances and screenings.
Nobody arrives here by accident. An audience that turns up at the PRS has already agreed to sit still and listen, the vital condition this music needs. This building has been gathering that kind of focused attention since 1934. I plugged in and played into it.
